DEVILLED EGGS

A new play from Black Liver

Devilled Eggs is a new two-hander play from acclaimed theatre-makers Black Liver, commissioned by Blackpool Grand Theatre. The show premiered as part of Blackpool Grand’s Storytelling Festival and Showtown Comedy Festival.

About the show

Welcome to The Dakota Guest House — the most glamorous B&B this side of Blackpool.

The Dakota is pure Variety: comedy, music and mystery are all in residence, and every room has a story to tell.

Your hosts, Roman and Prudence, invite you to flip through the guest book and relive a glittering past — from The Dakota’s heyday as a B&B for the stars to its present-day life as a haven of secrets. As each guest room opens, a new tale unfolds through songs, sketches and verse, introducing the characters who have passed through its doors.

The story

Set over the course of a single night’s stay (breakfast included), Devilled Eggs is a funny, intimate and sharply observed portrait of a place — and the people who shape it.

Like the eggs served at The Dakota’s breakfast table, this show is fresh, cheeky and devilishly spicy.

Blending storytelling, music and comedy, the play explores memory, performance and the hidden lives that sit just behind the curtains.
