ROGUES’ GALLERY

A new comedy from Black Liver

Fancy a good laugh and a great night out?

Step into Rogues’ Gallery — a smart, cheeky comedy celebrating the forgotten women of art history.

A full evening of entertainment, music, laughter… and a little mischief.

Rogues’ Gallery is a brand-new comedy from award-winning company Black Liver (BBC Radio 4 Sitcom Award winners).

About the show

A painting of a woman hangs in a gallery. A portrait wrapped in mystery, myth — and possibly a curse. As the artwork passes from owner to owner, a hidden history begins to emerge. Who gets remembered? Who gets erased? And why have women so often been framed as muses, but not artists? Set inside a contemporary gallery space, Rogues’ Gallery brings to life an exhibition of stories, sketches, songs and spoken word, uncovering the rebellious, remarkable and occasionally ridiculous tales of women written out of art history. Performed by two actors playing a whirlwind cast of characters, this is a show packed with humour, heart and mischief — with a prize-giving competition in the interval for good measure.

The story

This funny and fiercely feminist two-hander celebrates the women who challenged the system, bent the rules, and made art on their own terms — even when history tried to forget them. Blending laughter and learning, Rogues’ Gallery splashes together: Comedy and character Poetry and spoken word Music that sings with protest and celebration It’s a joyful reclaiming of space — on the walls, on the stage, and in the story.

The show is designed to connect with local communities. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with local art groups, using their work as part of the set and allowing each performance to reflect the place it’s performed.
